Dr. Jorge Rocha, DDS
Dr. Jorge Rocha is the owner and lead dentist at BioDent Smile in San Diego, carrying forward a practice with a long tradition of excellence in holistic and biological dentistry. Originally founded by Dr. David C. Kennedy, a pioneer in holistic dentistry, and later led by Dr. Byung Sun Yoo, the practice has been a cornerstone of biocompatible, mercury-free, and whole-body dental care in San Diego for decades.
A graduate of De La Salle University, Dr. Rocha pursued his passion for advanced surgical and restorative dentistry immediately after graduation. He completed the GDIA Implant Fellowship, the Loma Linda Implant Maxicourse, training in soft tissue management, and continues his education as a Kois Center student. His focus on surgery, biomimetic techniques, and biologically safe dentistry allows him to provide patients with care that is both cutting-edge and minimally invasive.
As a certified Biologic Dentist, Dr. Rocha is accredited by both the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT) and the International Academy of Biological Dentistry and Medicine (IABDM) for safe mercury amalgam removal, holding certifications in the SMART and Protect Protocols. He is also a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID), the ADA, the CDA, the IAOMT, and the IABDM.
Dr. Rocha’s philosophy is rooted in the belief that dentistry is about more than just fixing teeth — it’s about restoring confidence, health, and balance to people’s lives. He strives to ensure every patient feels heard, cared for, and leaves BioDent Smile feeling renewed and satisfied. From repairing a chipped tooth to transforming a smile with implants, he finds joy in the emotional impact his work creates.
Outside the office, Dr. Rocha is a dedicated family man who enjoys spending time with his wife (also a dentist) and their children. He has a passion for cooking, golf, and triathlon training — with the goal of completing his first Ironman. His personal mission is to continue growing BioDent Smile into a place where modern dentistry, holistic health, and boutique-level care come together to transform smiles and lives.

Dr. Byung Sun Yoo, DDS
Dr. Byung Sun Yoo is a respected dentist with over 25 years of experience in biocompatible and holistic dentistry. After earning his dental degree from the University of Colorado in 1996, he relocated to San Diego, where he continued the legacy of Dr. David C. Kennedy, one of the pioneers in holistic dental care.
Throughout his career, Dr. Yoo embraced a whole-body approach to dentistry, incorporating mercury-free practices, orthodontics, TMJ therapy, and sleep dentistry to better serve his patients. He remained deeply committed to continuing education and was a proud member of several professional organizations, including the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT).
Dr. Yoo has now retired from clinical practice after decades of dedicated service. His philosophy of care, clinical standards, and patient-first values continue to influence the practice and its approach to holistic dentistry.
Outside the office, Dr. Yoo has always been devoted to his family and community, with his faith guiding both his life and professional journey. Patients have long appreciated his compassionate approach and unwavering commitment to care that supports both oral and overall health.

Our Legacy
BioDent Smile carries forward a proud tradition of holistic and biological dentistry in San Diego. The practice was originally founded by Dr. David C. Kennedy, a pioneer in mercury-free and whole-body dental care, whose vision helped shape the field of biological dentistry worldwide.
In 1999, Dr. Byung Sun Yoo continued this mission, expanding the practice with a focus on biocompatible materials, sleep dentistry, and TMJ therapy. For more than two decades, Dr. Yoo upheld the principles of safe, natural, and patient-centered care.
Today, Dr. Jorge Rocha leads BioDent Smile into a new era — blending advanced surgical training, biomimetic techniques, and a boutique approach to wellness-centered dentistry. While modernized, the heart of the practice remains the same: holistic care that supports both oral and whole-body health.
